My name is Rebecca I am a primary 7 pupil at Primate Dixon Primary School Coalisland. I am an Irish Traveller and a member of our school council. I am 11 years old and I have been in six or seven different schools. Primate Dixon is my favourite school. I like this school because it has a school council and it has lots of computers and equipment. I travel a lot during my summer holidays. This year I am going to Knock with my grandparents. When I travel I live in a caravan, I love travelling as I get to stay up late and love visiting interesting places. My favourite place is Cong were the film the Quiet man was made. I enjoy travelling but I hate not having a shower or toilet in the caravan. When I travel we just park the caravan at the side of the road. It is a great life I get to see lots of animals and I stay in great places.
I am a member of the school council. I enjoy going to council meetings and helping Mr Dillon run our school. Mrs Loretta Bullock Education Adviser came to our meeting to discuss and to get our permission to open a new Autism Centre in our School, we all agreed this would be a great idea and we give our support. Our school council have been very busy we organised a dress up day at Halloween, we spent lots of money buying new playground equipment and we organised a Read A Book Week, which was very successful. We met Catriona Ruane Education Minister when she visited our school and she invited us to visit Stormont and to meet all the politicians, we are going on Monday, I hope to meet Ian Paisley and Gerry Adams.
